Life Members’ Assembly of AkhilBharatiyaSahityaParishad& Book Release
ID News: A meeting of the Life Membners of AkhilBhjaratiyaSahityaParishad, Assam was held on 7th April at Jayanta Kumar- LakhimiBarua Hall of Assam SahityaSabha, Guwahati wherein two books were also released. The meeting presided over by Mrinalini Devi, past-vice president of Assam SahityaSabha and presently President, AkhilBharatiyaSahityaParishad, Assam was attended by the Life-Members of the Parishad coming from different areas viz. Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Nagaon, Marigaon, Darrang, Udalguri, Rangia, Nalbari, Dhubri, Goalpara, Kamrup, Kamrup(M) etc. and discussed about the future action plan of the Parishad.
Two books namely, ‘Mangalacharanam’ and ‘Monolingual Dictionary in Bishnupriya Manipuri Language’ were also released in the meeting. While the book ‘Mangalacharanam’ was authored by Mrinalini Debi, President of the AkhilBharatiyaSahityaParishad, Assam herself, the ‘Monolingual Dictionary in Bishnupriya Manipuri Language’ was compiled and edited by DilsLakshmindraSinha, who is also the Life-Member of the Parishad. Unveiling the books, Dr. AmalenduChakraborty, VC of Rabindranath University, Hojai made a brief account on the two holy books and expressed satisfaction over publication of the same. As regards the holy book ‘Mangalacharanam’ authored by Mrinalini Devi, the speaker stated that the book would be useful for research work for Vedic culture in Assamese society at university level since the same is designed in highlighting the different aspects of social life concerning ritual entertainments since time immemorial. He congratulated the author for her valuable contributions in bringing together the early conception of religious ceremonies such as Annaprasan, Surakaran, Upanayanetc. with the present day celebration system of the same in Assamese society. As regards the Monolingual Dictionary in Bishnupriya Manipuri language since released, Dr. Chakraborty, who had also written the introduction to the book, mentioned in his speech that the book so published would definitely play a historic role in establishing the language on a firm pedestal of modern linguistics. He also appreciated the relentless work done by the compilers and expressed hope that the volume would be warmly accepted by the language lovers.
Mrinalini Devi, author of the book ‘Mangalacharanam’ in her speech mentioned about the inspiration that she received from her predecessors long back in performing the rituals such as Annaprasan, Surakaran, Upanayan etc. and tried to bring relevance keeping in view with the present day necessity on performance of such events. Being the President of the Parishad, she appreciated the compilers for bringing out the first Bishnupriya Manipuri dictionary which would go a long way in educating the people in proper perspectives.
DilsLakshmindraSinha, noted writer and recipient of Government literarypension who had compiled and edited the BishnupriyaManupuriJatiyaAbhidhan mentioned in his speech that while performing duties of Chief Editor of the dictionary, he got assistance from editors Dr. SantoshSinha and Anita Sinha(Ranjita) in a big way. The project for preparing the dictionary was started in 2006 under the guidance of Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore. He expressed the gratitude to the Government of Assam because of financialsupport to SahityaParishad for development and preservation of Bishnupriya Manipuri language and literature. Out of the corpus fund provided by government it was feasible to publish the dictionary, he said. The dictionary contains both archaic and modern words which are classified having original Sanskrit words, Sanskrit words with modification, some words which are not available in other languages, incorporation of some Indian languages like Assamese, Bengali, Hindi languages etc.
DhirenSarma, Chief Adviser to the AkhilBharatiyaSahityaParishad stated that some Kamrupiya words were found in the BishnupriyaAbhidhan and accordingly the same would be useful for Assamese as well. A background of the AkhilBharatiyaSahityaParishad, Assam was also given by him and hoped fruitful deliberation in the meeting.DebeswarKalita, Executive President of the Parishad spoke on the occasion. Later, the delegates participated the seminar deliberated on the routine nature of works pertaining to the Parishad. Dr. NabaGoswami (grand-son of Hem Chandra Goswami) now resident of America also participatedthe seminar. Dr. Deben Das, Prof. Bhabani Prasad Adhikari, Maya Handique, Satish Chandra Sarma,PratapBarua, Raja Chakraborty, RekhamoniBuragohain, KaustavmaniSaikiaand others delivered speech on the occasion and expressed views on matters relating to strengthening of the Parishad in line with other States of India. The President in her concluding speech whileacknowledging thanks to the participants for making the event successful also urged for attracting the youths so as to achieve the objects of the Parishad in right earnest.
